National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a prestigious institution to take admission in fashion education. In NIFT there are bachelor’s as well as master’s courses in design and fashion technology. There are 16 campus of NIFT which offers admission for fashion and design technology courses through NIFT entrance examination. There is only one exam of NIFT in a year. The NIFT 2018 Application Form  will be available at the official site. Most probably the application forms will be provided from the first week of November 2017. Aspirants can apply online for  NIFT 2018 Application form.

NIFT 2018 Application Form will be available only online. Applicants can download the form from the official website of NIFT.

  • NIFT Application Form 2018 will be provided from the 1st week of November 2017
  • The application forms will only be submitted through online mode. Any other mode of application will not be entertained.
  • The application fee of Rs. 1500/- (for General/OBC) & Rs. 750/- (For SC/ST/PHP) has to be paid to complete the registration process.
  • Candidates have to remit Rs-5000/-(which is a late fee) if they are filling the form after last date.
  • The application fee can be paid either through online payment gateways or through Demand Draft of any bank.
  • Take a print out of the successfully filled NIFT 2018 Application Form and keep it safely for future record.

The important dates  regarding NIFT 2018 are given in the table below:

  • For General/OBC: Rs-1500/-
  • For ST/SC: Rs-750/-

 NIFT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for NIFT 2018 are given for both UG courses and PG courses.

For UG Programs

  • The applicants should have qualified higher secondary or equivalent examination from any recognized board.
  • The applicants who have passed 3-4 years Diploma recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education can also apply for NIFT 2018.
  • The minimum age limit to apply for NIFT 2018 is 23 years as on 1st October 2018 for General category.
  • Age relaxation of 5 years will be given to SC/ST/PHP applicants.
  • Appearing applicants are also eligible to apply for NIFT 2018

For PG Programs

  • There is not age limitation to apply for master’s degree.
  • For M.Des & M.F.M programs, the applicants should have qualified a UG degree from any institution/university recognized by law in India.
  • For the M.Tech program, the applicants should have passed B.F.Tech from NIFT or B.E/B.Tech from any institution/university recognized by law in India.
  • The applicants appearing in qualifying exam can also apply for NIFT 2018.

NIFT 2018  EXAM PATTERN

The NIFT exam pattern will consist of General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT) and Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI). GAT is mandatory for all courses while candidates who selected B.Des. and M.Des. Courses will face CAT exam after GAT. Candidates who will obtain qualifying marks in written exam will have to appear in Situation Test (for B.Des.) and GD/PI (for M.Des.).

Candidates, who will choose MFM and M.F. Tech. courses, will have to face GD/PI after qualifying the GAT while candidate seeking B.F.Tech. course, will have to appear in GAT only.

GAT Exam Pattern for B.Des. and M.Des. Courses

Exam Mode Offline mode.
Duration of exam The exam duration will be 2.00 hours.
Total questions There will be 100 questions for B.Des. and 120 question for M. Des. in GAT.
Language The paper will be in English only.
Marking scheme Each question will carry equal marks.
Negative marking Negative marking is not applicable.
Subject section with question no. for B.Des. Quantitative Ability (20 question), Analytical Ability (15), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (15), Communication Ability (25) and English Comprehension (25 questions).
Subject section with question no. for M.Des. Quantitative Ability (20 question), Analytical Ability (25), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (15), Communication Ability (30) and English Comprehension (30 questions).

GAT Exam Pattern for B.F.Tech. and M.F.Tech. Courses

Exam Mode Offline mode.
Duration of exam The exam duration will be 3.00 hours.
Total questions There will be 150 questions.
Language English only.
Marking scheme Each question will carry equal marks.
Negative marking Not applicable.
Subject section with question no. Quantitative Ability (30 question), Analytical and Logical Ability (25), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (25), Communication Ability  and English Comprehension (45 questions) and Case Study (25 questions).

NIFT 2018 Syllabus

NIFT syllabus for General Ability Test (GAT) comprises of Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge & Current Affairs for B.Des & M.Des courses. The syllabus of GAT for B.F.Tech, MFM, M.F.Tech will consist of Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability & English Comprehension, Analytical & Logical Ability, General Knowledge & Current Affairs & Case Study.

Creative Ability Test (CAT) for B.Des & M.Des tests the innovative and creative ability of the candidates in designing while Situation test for B.Des candidates will evaluate candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability. The group discussion (GD) would comprise of a discussion on a case study.
