UPTET 2018: Application Form, Eligibility, Exam Date, Pattern

Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test abbreviated as UPTU is a test which is conducted for those candidates who are willing to develop their career in teaching. The official notification is published by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) through which candidates get the all necessary details regarding the test. As Uttar Pradesh is the biggest state in India , so it has number of  vacancies. So it is the great opportunity for the candidates who wish to choose teaching as their career option.

It is a state level test conducted by UPBEB. Candidates who are going to apply for the post of teachers for primary stage and elementary stage have to qualify the UPTET first. For this test only those candidates are eligible  who hold a graduate or masters’ degree along B.T.C or B.Ed. Selection is made on the basis of merit in UPTET exam. The exam is conducted in offline mode, consisting of 2 papers with all the questions as Multiple Choice Questions. Paper I have 5 sections and paper II have 4 sections.

The of Application form for the UPTET 2018 will be available from the October. After application form, candidates can download their  UPTET 2018 Admit Card as soon as they will be available. Admit card is the most important document to be carried on the exam day. Without admit card candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall. Aplication form for UPTET 2018 will available in the month of October.

  • Application form filling procedure will be done via online mode.
  • Candidates who wants to appear in the UPTET exam have to register themselves on the official website of UPBEB (upbasiceduboard.gov.in).
  • Remember that the fields in the application form which are marked as “*”, must not be left blank, as they are the mandatory fields.
  • There will be a column in the application form where candidates will have to upload their scanned photograph and signature.
  • Examination fee will be Rs. 400 which has to paid via credit card, debit card or net banking.
  • The fee for the reserved candidates will be Rs. 200.
  • After filling the application form, candidates are advised to take out the print out of the form for future reference.

After paying the fees candidates must upload the required documents online which include recent photograph, mark sheet of intermediate and proof of eligibility. And the candidates who are under reserved category must upload required set of documents or certificates.


There are two categories for the eligibility criteria.

  1. UPTET Eligibility Criteria for Primary Level (I TO V):
  • Candidates must have passed the senior secondary school examination with at least 50% marks.
  • They must have completed their graduation from a recognized university.
  •  The applicants must have completed the 2 years diploma in ‘T.C’, ‘N.C.T.E’ or ‘D.Ed.’
  1. UPTET Eligibility Criteria for Upper Primary Level (VI TO VIII):
  • Candidates must have passed the senior secondary school examination with at least 50% marks.
  • Candidates having 02 years B.T.C. from N.C.T.E. will be eligible.
  • They must have passed 4 years degree in Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), BA/ B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/ B.Sc.Ed from NCTE/ UG recognized Institute.

The exam will be conducted via offline mode. The exam will consists of multiple choice questions. No provision of negative marking is there. The test consists of 2 paper with 150 questions in each. Each question carries one mark.

PAPER I: Paper I is for those candidates who have  recruited for teacher of class I to V.

PAPER II: Paper II is for those candidates who have recruited for teacher of class VI to VIII.

And if any candidate have applied for both the papers, must attempt both PAPER I and PAPER II.

After the application form filling procedure candidates will be provided with the admit cards soon. Admit card for UPTET 2018 will be made available in the first week of December 2017 via online mode. Candidates can download their admit cards from the website. There is no provision of sending admit card by post. For downloading admit card follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the official website of UPTET
  • Click on UPTET 2018 Admit Card link
  • Provide all the necessary details- UPTET Registration Number and Date of Birth
  • Click on Submit
  • UPTET Admit Card would appear on the screen
  • Take its print out


The tentative date for the UPTET 2018 Result is in the last week of February 2018. Answer key will be released at the end of 2017. Result will be announced on the official website of UPTET. Candidates can check out their result by logging in with their roll number. Steps to check the result are given below:

  • Visit the official UPTET website:  upbasiceduboard.gov.in
  • Click on UPTET Result link.
  • Enter the UPTET roll number.
  • View the scores and save it for future us.

For general category , candidates who will score 60% of the total marks will be declared qualified.

For reserved category, candidates who will score 55% of the total marks will be declared qualified.
